Cortisone injections have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on pain and swelling.*

Often combined with treatments such as silicone gel sheeting, steroid tape, Stratacel or Strataderm, cortisone injections effectively treat inflammation at the source – reducing the appearance of scars.*

After cleaning the site of your keloid scar, our trained medical practitioner will use a fine needle to inject cortisone directly into the skin to reduce scarring.*

If your keloid scars cause you pain and distress, cortisone injections may be for you.

However, the treatment may not be suited to everyone – especially those with an allergy to corticosteroids. That’s why we’ll take a full medical history to establish your best treatment options.

At Instant Laser Clinic, our cortisone injections have been 100% verified for safe use. When administered by one of our fully trained medical professionals, the risks are minimal.

You may experience mild discomfort during treatment, but anaesthetic is usually not required. That said, some patients do experience the following side-effects following treatment:

• Pain, bleeding and bruising
• Allergic contact dermatitis
• Impaired wound healing

Although rare, complications resulting from cortisone injections include:

• Joint infection
• Nerve damage
• Thinning of skin and soft tissue around the injection site
• Temporary flare of pain and inflammation in the joint
• Tendon weakening or rupture
• Thinning of nearby bone
• Whitening or lightening of the skin around the injection site
• Death of nearby bone
• Temporary increase in blood sugar

A course of 1-4 cortisone injections spaced one month apart has been found to be the most successful treatment for small and large keloid scarring.*
